Facilities

With the opening of a new £14m centre in May 2008, postgraduate and staff accommodation has been enhanced substantially. The new facility is the result of the strategy to develop world-class postgraduate training facilities within the school and university. Research students have excellent facilities, including doctoral student offices with individual workstations and networked access to financial data. Doctoral students have easy access to supervisors accommodated within the same building.

During recent years, the research activity of the Financial Studies group has been coordinated through Bangor Business School's specialist research institute, the Institute of European Finance.

The Institute supports a dedicated research facility which provides access to on-line research database facilities including EuraIBCA, Bankscope and Thomson Analytics, plus a unique archive of financial data and published accounts relating to international banks and interlisted companies. This research centre and library is supported by a research librarian and financial computing officer. Both staff and students utilise this facility, contributing to a learning environment that is highly conducive to advanced research training.

The extensive banking library provides full coverage of banking systems throughout the world. World Banking Abstracts, prepared in Bangor and published 6 times per year, is compiled from the comprehensive collection of over 500 banking-related journals and other periodicals dealing with the financial sector, and makes a substantial contribution to research income. World Banking Abstracts is edited by our Head of School, Professor Phil Molyneux.
